This table has been through some stuff. It was purchased years ago with a stain finish. The owner decided she wanted something different and the table was painted. She wasn't loving the painted look so she tried to fix it. That's where I come in. The table and chairs came to me like this.
There was some damage control needed. :)
It is a great solid wood table so we had plenty of options. This is the inspiration picture she sent me.
The Crate & Barrel table in the picture is a concrete top which is hard to mimic with wood. If you paint a wood top grey it doesn't have the variation or texture of concrete. It was decided to go with a weathered grey finish on the top and the distressed wood look on the base and chairs. The cushions also got an update with some new fabric.
This was a lot of work. All of these pieces had to be stripped and sanded to get rid of all that paint. It was a success and the transformation is beautiful. This was the first time I did a finish like this and I am loving it!
