I want to thank Jess, BeyondBaffled, for explaining a very good way to re-size the patterns that I include in the tutorial.
My explanation is longer, it took me a little while to find everything in Word. Forgive me if I get a little too elementary in my directions.
Right click on the image in the tutorial, a window should appear.
Left click on "copy image".
(No need to close out of the blog, just get into Word.)
Left click on "Paste".
The image should appear on the screen.
Turn on the ruler option. I have Windows 7 and that button is at the right side of the screen, on top of the sliding arrow that moves the content on your paper. It's under the tool bar. That took me a few minutes to find.
Right click on the image, a window should appear.
Left click on "size", another window should appear.
Look for "Scale" in this window. Look for "lock aspect ratio", check the box if it is not all ready checked.
Find "height" and use the arrows to move the percentage up or down.
When you think you have it the size you want, close out of the window you are working in for the percentages.
Now for the rulers. This took me awhile to figure out, too.
To move the image up to the top so it's close to the ruler, move your cursor up to the edge of the paper and your cursor will change into 2 arrows facing each other with the message "double-click to hide white space". Double click and the image will be under the ruler ready to measure.
Now you can go back and forth to change the image's size until you think you have it right.
When you do think it's right, print out a test and put a ruler to it to check.
I suggest you print these instructions on paper to read as you are doing, it makes remembering easier.
I tried this out today and it was very easy to do after I found everything. Thank you so much for passing this on, Jess.
By the way Jess sent me a picture of her chair she made from my tutorial and it was beautiful! Good Job!
I hope everyone is reading this because she has another tip, she painted crochet thread to use as piping. The only suggestion she has on this is that she would try to use a larger thread. Very good idea.
I am putting the March tutorial up sometime today . . . .
Kris
