DIY Dock Progress - Part 5

Hello, everyone!  I hope y'all's Memorial Day weekend was as good as mine.  It has been a crazy 4 days.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know I got my copy of the magazine in the mail!!!!!

The Better Homes and Garden Kitchen and Bath Makeover, Summer 2014 magazine should be available for purchase this week in stores.  I am on the top half of page 23.

I posted our dining room reveal and an updated kitchen reveal last week.  There has been tons of positive feedback.  Hiring a photographer was a great idea.  If you live in the Houston/Galveston area and need a photographer, check out Ever & Anon.

Even though it was a holiday weekend, Blittle and I both worked in the shop.  Saturday and Monday were work days for us.  The nano skiff we had been building is finally finished and went home yesterday!  I worked on some custom furniture.  This is my first furniture makeover in a while and I missed it.  It felt good to be in the paint booth.  On Sunday, we made our way over to Crystal Beach to spend some time with my brother, his wife and her family.  It was good to relax and hang out.

I told Blittle we had to wait a few months to purchase the boat lift but really I was planning a surprise.  Our anniversary is today so I surprised him on Friday with his boat lift.  This is what he saw when he got home from work.

YEAH!  Now to install it!

Another fun thing this weekend, I finished staining the dock and fence.  What a relief!  I haven't posted a dock update in a while but I have been working.  The dock itself is finished but now we have to install the boat lift, get the electrical ran from the house, install the fish cleaning station and build the adirondack chairs.

Since you last saw the dock, it has been trimmed and received to coats of stain.  The fence has also been stained but I'll show before and afters of that tomorrow.

One coat wasn't enough.  It dried really light so a second coat had to be put on.

What a crazy weekend.  I can't believe I am in a magazine.  I can't believe the dock is done...or at least the hard part.  I can't believe we have been married for 8 years and 1 year ago today our offer was accepted on this house and I announced to all of you, we were moving back to Texas.  CRAZY!

Happy 8 years, my Love!

DIY Kitchen Reveal Update

It has been over 7 months since I revealed our kitchen makeover.  It is hard to believe it has been that long and I am speechless about all the opportunities and attention that came with this experience.  I never thought I would be doing anything other than teaching much less having a blog, guest blogging on Remodelaholic and being featured in Better Homes & Gardens Kitchen and Bath Makeover Magazine.  How is this even my life?

When I first revealed the kitchen in October, it was bare bones.  Just finished and barely used.  Naked.  Nothing on the counters, no curtains, nothing.  Now it has some personal touches, curtains and it is definitely more lived in.

Here is what I started with.

Here are the updated photos.  Thanks again to Jessica of Ever & Anon Photography for taking the amazing pictures.

LOVE. IT.

We are so excited with how great it turned out and how different our house feels and looks.  I can't believe I live here.  Thanks again to my husband for trusting my design choices and for helping me with this makeover.  I could not have done it without him.
